I am canadian, now married to a u.s. citizen and plan to apply for green card.

I have a question, once I submit my green card applicatoin, can I still have freedom to go back to canada? including go back china for visiting?

I need your help, thank you.

You need to apply and obtain Advance Parole before leaving US - otherwise your green card application will be considered abandoned.
When you file I-130 and I-485, you can also file (for no additional charge) I-131 application for travel document and I-765 application for employment authorization. The first allows you to travel outside and US and return while your green card application is pending, the other allows you to work in the US.

Thank you your nice response. But I do wish to back to china to visit parents at this moment and don't want to wait for next 6 months or more until I get the green card.

so can I wait to apply green card after I visit china first? ......As a canadian citizen, is there any trouble for me to return to u.s. after visiting china?

Thanks for help. I have an another question:

Is it a problem that a canadian visiting u.s. as a tourist and got married and apply for green card?

I visited u.s. as a tourist and met him, we love each other and got married in two months. now my husband wants to apply green card for me asap thus I can legally look for a job and our marriage will be stable. as a tourist, my canadian passport does not have any I-94 form, but I had two TNs before. is it any problem to apply for green card?

Yes it can be if it is suspected that you weren't sincere in your intent to enter the USA as a tourist but, instead, were already planning to get married and remain in the USA when you claimed to be entering as a 'tourist'.

As to whether it will be a problem in your case, I'd recommend posting in the 'Family Based Green Card--Marriage/Relative' forum. Although I know you've had TN status in the past, your current situation doesn't seem to have much to do with TN status and seems a bit out of place in this forum. Best of luck!
