Is it possible for me to get a new H1 stamped (H1 transfer) from within the US?

my current H1 stamp expires in 2005.

Is there some kind of rule on who can apply for stamping H1 visa within the US?

If the transfer was for the same visa (eg. H1 to H1 or H4 to H4 ) - then u can get ur visa stamped in US.

so there is nothing like any rule that a visa needs to be expiring within a year or X number of months before you can apply for H1 revalidation.

I dont think so.
Since ur visa expires in 2005 - u are surely eligible for stamping in US.
U should also have got a valid I-94 with ur H1 extension.
If u have not got the I-94 with the new visa - then u have to go out of US, stamp ur passport and then enter US.

--- If you have current H1 Visa sticker( Stamp) in passport valid till 2005 you don’t need new Visa stamp in passport even if it has past employer info on it, when you enter next time show your new H1 approval notice at POE.
