can i get a social sec card with welcome letter?

Hi everybody I came across this site an I love it you guys are very good and I found a lot of help here. My question si I just got approved and received welcome leter for 1-797 with my A# etc, can i use this for a social security card?

you need passport stamped from Local USCIS OR the Card.

Thanks, just went to the ss office before your reply and found out the hard way, indeed they need either the passport stamped or the actual GC
