Can I change company before I-140 is approved?

HI,
I have filed my I-140 and 485 together a year back(April 2005) through my base company (Company A) but havent received any notice from immigration office, but now I got an offer my the client (company B). I have my EAD, since July 2005, and have also filed for extension.
Please advice if I can change the company even before I-140 is approved.

You may because of AC21 but what if the 140 is denied? I would ask some lawyer

According to 5/12 memo, pending I140 is not sole reason to deny I485, however, the problem is if RFE came to your old employer, and they ignored it(well, that is likely to happen as you are no longer working for them), your I140 and I485 gets denied.
