Time line: If divorce occurred soon after receiving conditional GC as you noted, you might heading to some real trouble.
It won't be easy to convince USCIS that your bona fide marriage ended suddenly after receiving your GC. USCIS might feel cheated.
Most divorces come at least a year in to the marriage. After living with someone for over a year, problems can occur resulting in divorce.
Of course that’s not the case here.
Question: How long have you been married? This will matter a lot. If you married at least over a year ago, (I mean married and living together) things may not look as bad. However, If you married 2-3 months before applying for AOS, then soon divorced after getting the conditional, that is ...... not good..... Not good at all... Huge red flag!
You need to consult a lawyer early. You might be investigated for fraudulent marriage. Play it safe. Talk to a lawyer and start strategizing before it’s too late.
Other questions: What was the reason for the divorce? Why too soon? Did you guys try counseling? How will you convince USCIS that your marriage was bonafide if your spouse was willing to sever ties that quickly? (after the GC come through?) Do you see what this looks like? I'm just an average joe with no training in AOS matters. Imagine what a trained psychologist will be thinking when he or she sees your file - when you try to remove conditions? I'm not trying to scare you here buddy, I'm just pointing out that it’s very easy for someone to smell a rat here...
