Can current TN VISA get cancelled if I apply for a new one?

Hello,
I am seeking guidance regarding my TN Visa. I have one, but recently got a job offer for a new employer. I am planning on going to the US Consulate in Mexico to file for the new one, but If it gets denied, will my other TN VISA be cancelled?

Thank you very much for your support

Typically, applying for any consular VISA cancels your old one. If however, you are only applying for TN status (which you can do from within US without getting a VISA), your VISA is unaffected.

Since you have a valid TN VISA, why would you be applying for a new one now. Just get the TN approval.

So, if you are denied a new TN status, then it would depend on why you are being denied. if it is merely for technical reasons related to your petition (missing info, etc), then your current status is unaffected.
But, if you are denied new TN for inadmissibility reasons (criminal record, overstay, evidence of immigrant intent), then you will be denied entry altogether.

Mexicans have a 2-step process for TN, but you don't have to go through both steps each time you get a new TN; don't apply for a new VISA if your consular VISA is still valid.

Just curious--but it is possibly relevant to the original poster's question--can a Mexican citizen with an unexpired TN VISA apply for a TN I-94 for a new employer at the border? Or does it have to be done by mail?

No, they can only apply for TN status at a consulate (regardless of remaining validity of the VISA, and with or without I-129 approval), or, if in US, by I-129. No border processing.
