Can a usa permenant resident work in Canada ?

You would surely need a Canadian work permit. You can work a permanent job in Canada and not risk losing your US green card provided you can commute to and from work every day. Example, if you live in Detroit, but work in Windsor, Canada and commute to work daily.

I'm an IT professional & have completed 36 months on GC, I have a few questions as per your posts.

1. You mean I can get a temporary work visa for Canada ?

2. Do you need to get a job offer letter first from the employer in canada ?

3. Is this temp work visa given by canadian immgration at port of entry ?

4. As per posts on this forum, does the canadian employer, need to be a US based company.. inorder maintian maintain gc status & continue to accumulate time towards US citizenship ?

Appreciate if you could shed some light on your experience.

if you qualify. The fact you have a GC is totally irrelevant.

If you were a US citizen, then you could get a NAFTA visa. Since you are not, you will most likely need to petition (or have your employer petition) for one.

That would be a bare minimum.
