Can a H4 Visa Holder work for an Indian Firm, be paid in rupees?

Can a H4 Visa Holder work for an Indian Firm (visa holder is Indian)while residing in USA? She will be paid in rupees and basically will be telecommuting?

H4 status holder can not work while in US
 
No one can stop you from working(from home) for an Indian company as long as you are not getting funds into US. It might be a different thing if you have to go to a client site..then an appropriate work visa would be needed
 
I think H4 can not work even for entity in abroad as long as s/he is on the US soil. It is considered taking away job from the US citizen which defeats the whole purpose of requirement of work authorization.

Hi,

I have a H4 visa valid till Jul2013 and would like to travel to USA on leave. Is it legal to carry my office laptop while to traveling to US. If yes, do I need to carry some documents along with the laptop. Also, I'd like to support my project work from USA during my stay in USA. Is this all legal. As I have heard a mix of opinion from people around that once cannot earn on H4 in US. But in my case, I shall be working for an Indian company from US soil and the salary would be credit to my Indian bank accoount in INR. Logically I shall be on leave in the systems but will be working out of US.

Can you please help me if the above all is legal.
