Hi there,

I have an approved I-140 and filed for I-485 (change of status) in 2008. I have received a notice to appear for an interview next monthwhich it don't seem to sound so bad. The only thing is after asking few people who went the same process like me they were never called for an interview and they got their green cards later. My question is there similar situations like mine and why?

Thank you,

Hannash

Thank you ER N, that is exactly what I meant. I guess everybody in here will realize what it is specially when you mention i-485.

Anybody knows why some goes for an interview and some not?

Thank you

Because they have some questions to ask you.
Default is no interview for EB, but some got called.

USCIS has its own criteria to transfer files to Local office. Some time they give more work to local office. Most of EB1 or NIW are sent to local office. Many I-485 don’t have any issue but they transfer to local office.
It is not must that they have some specific questions to ask you.
Officer in local USCIS office just goes through your I-485 form and ask the answer like Yes/No that you filled on I-485 form.
File transfer from service center to local office takes around 15-20 days then they take time to open the boxes and then they send Interview date notice and they will list the documents that you should bring to local USCIS office at the time of interview.
** If one wants to invoke AC21 then one should also take the new employer permanent job offer letter.

Thank you,

You have answered my question, I thought there is something wrong in my application.

Regards,
