Bringing Spouse while pending 485..Murthy Advised this

I posted a question to Ms.Murthy : How do I bring my spouse if my I am on EAD and pending 485. I did not renew my H1 while on EAD. Her reply was

spouse may have to enter on her own status or you could file your H1B and her H4 together with consular processing for the NIV at home country consulate

Can someone explain this to me? I dont understand this.

Spouse can enter using a F1 or her own H1 is what she meant.
She also gave you the option of doing the H1 again (and so the H4 for your spouse). This is based on few assumptions. If you are with your sponsoring employer still you can go back to H1.
Otherwise Follow to join is the only remedy.

I understood spouse entering on her own visa. I was unsure of the consular processing for NIV..(what is NIV)

Anyway I think going back to H1 and bring spouse on H4 seems much easier. I just wanted to know if people can go back to H1 from EAD if they still have another 3 years unused in H1.

Yes you can go back to H1

NIV is Non Immigrant Visa like H1, H4, F visas etc. as opposed to Immigrant visa like GC which can be done(for your spouse) only after your case get approved..
