Boston - Completed Interview - Now Pending

My wife and I had our Naturalization Interviews on 12/11/06 in Boston. After seperate interviews of about 30min each (both passed civics), my wife's application was approved (oath date of 01/08/07) and I was informed that a "decision could not be made at this time". The Officer indicated something relating to my fingerprints not being received from the FBI.

I subsequently called the FBI customer service numbers and was informed that my fingerprint results were returned with 2 days of my fingerprints being submitted (10/14/06).

I would like to know if its "normal" NOT to receive an approval decision at the interview, and what should my next steps be. Thank you :(

You are probably in name check. I had a similar experience, wife approved and I was told FBi name check is pending.

Inconsistent USCIS

Welcome aboard.

USCIS has a new rule that is not to have the interview until FBI background check is in since 5/2006. In your case I guess they made an exception. Wait 120 days, if no response, file 1447 on 121. day.

My advice:
If you haven't heard from them in 4-6 weeks take an info pass and ask them what exactly the problem is.

FBI Number?

What is the FBI number that you can call?

Another question: Is background check, FP check and name check the same thing? A friend of mine went to the interview and was told that her FP has to be redone because it is not good enough and she passed the background check but not the name check. I am totally confused. How can they complete the background check without a set of valid FP?

I will have my interview on 1/4/2007, the same the now governor will take office. I heard that there will be a lot of event going on on that day and only wish for good luck fighting the traffic.

Nashor,
You will have the option for filing 1447(b) on day 121. Hopefully it will be resolved before that, but if it doesn't, then make use of it.
Good luck!!!

Hi,

A few questions:

1. What documents were asked for in the interview letter?
2. What documents were asked during the interview?
3. What questions were asked during the interview?
4. Was the officer friendly and professional?

Hi,

A few questions:

1. What documents were asked for in the interview letter?
My Passport, Green card, marriage licence(I got my green card through marriage). my name change court document.
2. What documents were asked during the interview?
All the above.
3. What questions were asked during the interview?
He start to ask who is the first US president even before I can sit down. Then asked me about the document I brought with me, made the potocopy while asked me to write a sentence on the pice of paper with my full name. My full name on the side of my photos as well. Before I know it, it is down. The whold process took about 9 minutes.

He aslo asked me why my husband is not with me. I was alarmed at first, because the document didn't say he has to come. so I explained that he has to work and told him where my husband works when he asked about it. I don't think my husband really has to be there, but he might want to confirm that I am still married to the same guy.

4. Was the officer friendly and professional?

Well, I don't know. But he seems to know what he is doing and I am happy that it take so little time to get it done(on that day).

I went to Boston for the interview.

I have a question for those that has taken the ceremony:
Can I invite my family to go to the ceremony? Is there a limit how many can go?

Thanks.

I had no problems accompanying my wife (and bringing my daughter) to her oath. There were lots of family both at her oath and at mine several months later. In neither case was their much control of who showed up (only that the "oath-takers" sat in the front and the family at the back).

Pending, Now APPROVED for Naturalization

Hi Everyone,

I have been approved for Naturalization with an Oath date of 1/25/07 in Boston. I did my interview with my wife and she was approved at the interview and I was informed that I was in pending status due to FBI check.

Anyway, I received my Oath appointment by mail on 1/09/07. I thought I would be stuck in FBI name check for ages.

Thanks for all the help

For my application FP are cleared and online status says in application in Vermont office

a) How many days it takes Vermont center to send the file to Boston office after FP clearance?
b) Once it moved to Boston, does the online status changes to moved to Boston or in Boston office?
C) Are they any body in my status?

Thanks
Sumathi
