I need some information about the visa
processing at the Consulate in Bombay.

I have had an F-1 and an H-1 issued by the
US Consulate in the past. I need to get my H-1
revalidated now.

Q1. Can I appear in person or do I have to
use the drop box facility.

Q2. My family used to live in Maharashtra
till a couple of years ago but not anymore.
Don't quite understand how the drop box
faciility will work for my case.

Any information is highly appreciated.

read on..

1) Yes you can use the drop box. The service is just excellent..they require just your H1 original notice and the fees and passport.

2) If your passport has a maharashtra/gujrat/goa/some other..permanent address you are fine ( I had this case). But if you had a prev visa from bombay ..you are fine too.

What does "Cancel without Prejudice" mean?
I got this with a 221(g) when I applied for revalidation
to St. Louis. The only clarification that they mentioned
was need a employment verification letter describing
specific job duties not a general one.

More about myself and my company.

1. My company is a 600-800 million dollar company.

2. I have been here on an F-1 -> OPT -> H-1. The F-1
and H-1 were issued by the Mumbai consulate.

3. Was never out of status even once.

I am kind of a little worried about the stamp. Please
can you explain what that stamp means if you happen
to know.

My I-94 and H-1B expired on Sept'02 2002.
** I never got my I-94 extended **
My H-1 extension was applied from the CA
center on May'6 2002

Would the above be the reason for the stamp??

When St. Louis stamp new H1B or new H4 sticker they stamp on old visa “Cancel without Prejudice) it is normal
Have you applied your H1B Revalidation in US? Where you got this stamp?
--- If your H1B revalidation was not done and you received a letter that they need employment verification letter, this letter is must when you send your passport for revalidation to St. Louis. The letter has to be written by your employer to Department of State and you should attach it with all the required documents, the letter should request for issuing of Visa and your Job duties should be on the letter. Please go to www.immihelp.com and search for Revalidation you will find a sample letter
If you are going to Bombay for stamp that is fine but you can send the complete documents to St. Louis for revalidation. if it was returned to you from St. Louis because lack of some documents than you have to send it to different address in Washington DC with the required documents.

If it is for Revalidation in US then copy of valid I-94 of primary applicant (H1B holder) both the sides is needed along with copy of H1B approval notice.
If it is for Bombay consulate it does not hurt if you send I-94 of the primary applicant.

I-94 at Mumbai?

How one can send I-94 at Mumbai counsulate? While returning to India we are supposed to surrender I-94 at airport and get new one at POE. For H4, I-94 is not required.

I got this stamp from DC when I sent my PP
for revalidation. Now what do I put in Q35 of
the DS-156 form where it asks whether your
visa has been canceled or revoked.

Man, it was an expired visa wonder why they
did it!!!!

Totally confused!!
