All,

I had a question regarding BC for my wife and I:

Wife's BC: Issued in 2002 in English.

Q1) Has her first name and her mother's first name. Will this suffice?

My BC: Issued at time of birth in mix of Hindi and English. I had it translated in English and notarized last year in India.

Q2) Has my mothers first name only and is missing last letter of her first name. Will this suffice?

Thank you in advance for taking time to answer this question.

Hi Sk-1, In your wife case, first name should be enough as most of the BC in India are just having first name. For you, If possible, get an affidavit from your mother saying that all the different names( one with missing last letter etc) mention one and the same or something like that. That should be enough. I had to do that for both me and my wife as both our parents names were spelled wrong.
This is just and advice and I am not a lawyer. Please consult your lawyer for more clarification.
Good luck

Thanks for the feedback

Forgood,

Thanks for the feedback. Have you and your wife applied for I-485 or has your been approved? Also, obtaining the affidavit was that your lawyer's suggestion?

Thanks in advance again.

----------------------it may work but I will also get 2 the 2 affidavits from her parents on stamp paper signed before notary and on affidavits write the first name of your wife and full name (as on her passport) and it should be written that both the name are your wife...name and of same person. lawyer knows how to write it
My BC: Issued at time of birth in mix of Hindi and English. I had it translated in English and notarized last year in India.
----------------that is ok
Q2) Has my mothers first name only and is missing last letter of her first name. Will this suffice?
------------------ also get affidavit from mother (if any RFE then you will have it with you)
Thank you in advance for taking time to answer this question.

---We are just going to apply may be today or June 4th.
Also, obtaining the affidavit was that your lawyer's suggestion?
---It was my lawyer's suggestion. Also, regarding birth certificate problem, this is a common practice.

Thanks in advance again.

Good luck.

Hi Ginnu, Do you know if an RFE is going to delay the approval process? If so, is there an approximate time of how much delay would it cause. Because, I am sure that I am going to get an RFE for my Wife's medical as she didn't do TB because she is pregnant now. Nothing we can do about it. But atleast if we know the approx delay time, we can expect something.
Thanks
