Beware with being ask to sponsor!

I just received a DM/PM and was asked by some one who posts on this forum from Nigeria to help out and sponsor the person (I won't mention names), but to be clear....

I will never ever sponsor some one I don't know!

If you sponsor some one you can be held liable if that person becomes a burden on society and you might end up paying for hat person....you sign and are responsible for what you sign!

Btw the person is from Nigeria and there are thousands of scams (just google it) coming from Nigeria...maybe this person is desperate for a sponsor or just another scam artist who wants your SSN and info so theycan rip you off!

Just be warned!

I never ever stated all people from Nigeria are scammers but there are thousands of scam's out there and lyers from many countries...Nigeria happens to be one of the front runners...and Gasper2000 by putting up a fake email has shown his true colors...Thanks....I would never have disclosed your PM if you didn't put up an email that I never ever received...the truth will always prevail!

bentlebee you have taken a good line of action concerning the above scenario of someone asking you to sponsor another person,my problem is that how do you determine that he/she is a Nigerian by mere posting on the Nigerian thread.For your information am a NIGRERIAN(PROUDLY TO BE KNOWN AS ONE!)and sorry to say that i won't ask you to sponsor me,WE ARE NOT ALL SCAMMERS IN THAT PART OF THE WORLD.

I'm a nigerian too. There's no need to take the OP personally. The truth is a lot of my people have scammed even more people, and have been a constant disgrace to my nation. Any warning against these scams is welcome. Also let us honest Nigerians stay that way, and change the reputation of our nation back to one of goodness.

I just got to know that my sponsor in the States, got an international job in another country.His residence in the States is still intact. I am not sure he is relocating finally to the new country that he got the job because he is a greencard holder that has approached five years and might be filing for citizenship anytime from now.So he currently shuttles the States and the new country.
my questions are

1 Do you think his move has any implication in being successful at the interview?

2 Does kCC,USCIS, or the embassy in Nigeria contact our sponsors at all? Because i fear if they do,he might not be reached because he might at work in the new country when the embassy finally decides to call him.

3 Please is there any one in the forum whose sponsor was contacted before or after his/her interview?

This is not about taking the OP personally. Its about him jumping into conclusions without reading Gasper's pm carefully. We all know nigerian's reputation but dont make statements on public forum's that are not true. We should not condone this especially if its not true.

If anyone approach any stranger for sponsorship(which he didnt, he was asking for advice), the sensible answer is no. How does that turn into a nigerian scam. Just because he heard the name Nigeria???? Please benebene think about what you said again, this is not taking it personally, what your people have done have no correlation to whats going on here

In fairness to bentlebee, he didn't name gasper or anyone else in his original post. Any member of this board could have contacted him about sponsorship. And tbh, I understand why he wouldn't sponsor someone he doesn't know personally. I wouldn't sponsor someone I didn't know well.

The original post appears to be in the Nigerian section of this board. While not all scams come from there, lets face it, Nigeria does have a serious problem with it.

@ gasper, d guy is crazy, i met a nigerian on dis forum last year then i was new and d guy promise a gud accommondation and gud gov't job if only i can pass a small test whenever i come, he's a nigerian who also won dv some years bck. I have is email, fone no. And he has been a gud friend since so what is that guys problem. I can help if am in d position is all about service to humanity since it's temporary.

My annoyance is that i never ever implied in my PM to him that i needed a sponsor but rather that i have an issue of which his contribution would be appreciated.If i had asked him to sponsor me,then his quick alarm to an extent would have been relevant atleast for the sake of caution.But raising a false alarm is my annoyance.He is mad!

Just monitor any body's email and you'll know why. even most USA universities have special methods and being extra cautious of accepting fees from Nigeria. Thank you, but try to have a good understanding of this issue. Firstly, no Nigerian, and I repeat no Nigerian will disagree with the fact that scammers from Nigeria have soiled the good image of Nigeria/ Nigerians. Nevertheless, Nigeria/Nigerians will never stop the fight against all scammers.

Secondly, which is the real point - did Gasper requested Bentlebee for sponsorship? The answer is simply NO. So, kindly tell me with all sincerity, how would you feel and what would be your reaction if someone made an implicating false statement against you and your country? Pls. tell me.

He definately has shown his true colors(an honest one) but ur colors seem to be a deceptive and an attention seeking one.

No one is disputing that Nigerians have a bad image especially regarding scamming, but get your facts straight before you point fingers at anyone.
