Bare Basics/Necessities of Life Upon Entry - Feedback from Successful DV Selectees In USA Please

I actually get annoyed at some people in Tanzania who are sitting on Green Cards but living here and just waltzing into America once a year to get a stamp on their passport. I mean talk about unfair when there are people willing to go there and be law-abiding people and pay their taxes.

From what I hear the US Government wants to revoke people holding Green Cards and doing the above because they feel other serious people should have a chance and why should people be living elsewhere and making money and hiding it from the US Government.

Such people are certainly at risk of having their green cards revoked - this can be done if you are deemed to have abandoned residency and if they do as you say, they can't prove residency.

Our pleasure to be of assistance pose :)

I've learnt very valuable things here from my other forum friends who I'm grateful to always.

Don't worry about becoming current. You'll go through by August next year just like I have this year. Be positive and make sure all your documents are prepared well in advance. Believe me it is a much better feeling knowing everything is ready a month before your interview and you're just taking it easy and waiting for the day to come.

Only the police certificate and medical should be done 6 weeks before your interview because of the validity of them but this depends from country to country so make sure you check this first.

All the best!

Good morning momo, anynews about the 2nd NL???

G'morning bro! No news yet but I am guessing the 2nd NL will come through after the official visa bulletin date so somewhere between the 15th June and 20th June (the coming week) because this is their normal practice.

I checked ESC yesterday and day before and it hasn't changed but I know they will e-mail us to tell us to check our ESC.

that means i need to wait another week ? :(

I just checked ESC and it's still the same so I presume we have to wait for a few more days. I'll check again this afternoon when it'll be morning in America.

You waited almost two years so chilllllll, another week is only a few days lol

No i waited 13 months, coz when i applied i just forget about it until the 2nd of may randomly i checked on internet and i saw that i won lol, at the beginning i was thinking that it was a scam but then i realise it is a real.

All my plans in my life are in stand by because of this DV, i just need to know officially this summer about my future momo

They obviously know you! :p

Lmao actually I wasn't prepared to wait for 1-2 weeks so I called a friend who knows some people that know some people :p

All that's left now is the UK police certificate and I am going to courier my documents to Fareham in the UK tomorrow morning, my medical which I am planning to schedule the moment I receive my 2nd NL, I-134 which I've already sent off to my aunt/uncle to fill out and courier back to me and finally my bank statements (should I get 3 or 6 months?) which I'll pick up in mid July.

From the moment I received my 1st NL in May 2012, it was my agenda to have everything ready long before the interview. Once I have all the documents in place I'll prepare a lovely little file containing the original and one copy of each document which I will simply hand over at the interview.

Honestly speaking I don't want to be stressing out 3 weeks before the interview or last minute so I'd rather have everything ready beforehand and enjoy my last few weeks at home and of course pay as much attention I can to work and delegating some of my work to my GM.

To deviate from my English accent, when I get to the Uniiiited States I gotta look for a jawb :p

Lol , yea for me i got the american accent since i went to US at very young age and even i got the southern difficult accent, even that all my actual work is with french but i practice english since i teach business courses in a college. I have most of the things ready all what i need actually is to settle safely in the first 2 months, i can not count on my few friends there, i have to count on myself , US is land of the opportunity and i have to take my opportunity and so all we do momo, everything will be good for all of us !

We were talking about Heathcare costs and the details for "Obamacare" are just emerging. It counds like there will be a range of options designed to allow everyone to choose what they want. The lower monthly cost plans have high deductibles, so they are good to avoid a financial disaster in good of a serious health issue. Don't forget though, it doesn't take much of a health issue to quickly get to the max deductible.
