Baltimore txfr approved

Yes, it is approved!!!... It was just a short session of general questions like..
birth date, marige certificate, job duties, lenth of job etc.. nothing was asked that would raised the hair. Officer was a nice, polite gentleman with a soft voice. Local ID/driver license and passport are must to have while you go in.

Himalko:

Congratulations!! Wow that is real good news!

One question: Did they ask for your employer\'s financial statement or similar document?

congrats himalko and nicki485, I did not get to meet any body as I was
so disappointed, I left the place immediately
What is happening with u Anastomsis ? why don;\'t u go to the center personally and enquire about your case, in case u have not done that.

Yes... seems that a few 5/17 transfer peopple are past due the 90 "promise" days for the interview scheduling, especially those whose cases were received at BINS by the end of May like mine was...

Baltimore INS certainly seems to be ahead of the neighbor Arlington INS. There are not a whole of cases in Arlington, VA but even then there haven\'t been any scheduling of EB based interviews.

Good Luck to everyone in Baltimore and hope Arlington take some cues too.

Himalko, Congrats!

Did you go to Social Security Office that day itself.
Do you know after how many months we can change it .

Regards,

to be:
I have been there 2 times. Once a nice lady told me it will take 90 days form received date (that\'s already passed) and the next time a rude one told me 60-120 days!! So there. I figured going there is a waste of time and I will just wait out the interview notice. Moreover my I-140 was for CP and chances are pretty high that even after interview (hoping other paperwork is fine)I will probably have to wait out another 90 days after that.
Do keep us posted when you hear from B-INS.

Lazizo got re-transferred

Another potential 8/29/01 interviewee got transferred because of change of address

Don\'t give up hope anastomosis, think positive all that matters is
your luck on the day of the interview. I;am sure there are some
officers who would overlook the I140 transfer fiasco.

Conversation with a B-INS guy on Friday Last

Folks,

I called up the public relations office last Friday and enquired about my I-485 status.

Seems many of us have been calling this office cause when I mentioned to him that my case was transfered on 6/04/01 , he mentioned right away that I should be "hearing from them very shortly" ......
and that a month thereafter , typically an interview would be scheduled . And yes, they do not provide status info over phone, however I was welcome to their office personally for the same.

Essentially I was promptly dispatched with the vaguest of indicators
"very shortly"........

Chin up folks....

I went to baltimore to enquire regarding my case. After three months, those morons say that I am living in virginia and now they are transferring my case to arlington. They said, arlington will schedule an interview. Just wanted to share the info and frustration.

Quick update 9/6/01

Looks like B-INS is very sticky about address of the 485 transferees, and likes to do only MD cases even for those who used to live in MD and relocated subsequently. In cases of Suresh G (Arlington VA) and Lazizo (Atlanta, GA)they took an awful lot of time to re-transfer the cases. Hope they get their interview calls soon.

Most cases interviewed are approved and the two most common reasons for the wait after interview is if I-140 was done for CP (some cases)or problems with BC. Hopefully the \'CIA Check\' is not affecting Baltimore like it has affected some Newark transferees.

Possible BC problems

Anastosmosis

Can you help me out with possible BC problems.

I have 2 affidavits ( from parents ) - with sub magistrate stamp.
I also have a non availability cert - in my local language , with
a translation from a Notary in India.
I have a certificate from Indian consulate , saying that birth regn
is not compulasory in India before 1970.
I have my school cert which gives my date of birth.

The Non availability cert says that " a search was made for the year
xxxx for the yyyy village and no details were available"
My affidavit ( per my passport ) gives the place of birth to be the city under which the village comes.

Will there be any problems here.
Do I need to get a tranlation in US.
Do I need to give an affidavit with the village name also.

Thx

lakmur ( TD 5/17)

BC

Lakmur:

In general consulate certificates are not accepted by the INS. But I think you should be finewith the rest of the docs. Double check about the place of issue of non-availability cert. as well as the translation.

By the way any news on your interview date?

Also Check the link below:

http://www.murthy.com/485faq.html#6
For BC Sheila Murhty recommends the following:
Documentation of birth must be submitted. A birth certificate is preferred. If it is not available, notarized affidavits from older family members, preferably your parents, who have knowledge of your birth, may be submitted. If you cannot get affidavits from your parents, you may submit affidavits from other close family members who are older than you. The affidavits must include the person\'s name, address, date of birth, relationship to you, and how the person knows when you were born. The affidavits also must include your name, date and place of birth, and the names of your parents.

In general, if a birth certificate is not available, then you should obtain (a) a certificate of non-availability from the government agency that would have issued you the birth certificate if you had one, (b) two affidavits as described above. Either instead of the non-availability certificate or in addition, you can submit any other evidence of your date of birth, such as a school certificate, religious certificate, certificate from the hospital or midwife, etc. However, a letter from the consulate or a date of birth certificate declaration based upon passport records would not generally be acceptable.
