B2 visitor visa questions

Hi all,
Apologies if these questions have been posted before. I tried to search the forums, but couldn't find any threads.

A friend of mine is planning on visiting the US on a tourist visa. Her plan is to come to NewYork first (for a month) and then travel around the country for about 5 months. She is married and is planning to apply for the visa as a self sponsor.

My questions are:

In addition to the confirmed air tickets (both entering and leaving the country) and show bank statement with sufficient funds:

- Is it necessary to have a detailed day to day itinerary for the duration of the trip?
- Is it necessary to show proof of stay (hotel bookings) and travel plans within the US?

Appreciate your help.

Cheers.

1. she simply need a reservation , not a confirmed ticket
2. she needs to show her first adress. home adress rather than a hotel ...
3. in addition to bank statement, she needs employment history...does she have permission from her boss? etc ?

GCman2005,
Thanks for your reply.

My friend isn't working right now, so she doesn't have any letter from her employer.

Unused 5 year b1/b2 visa

I was issued a 5 year B2 visitors visa about about 4 years ago to attend a conference. Due to ill health I couldn't go to the conference and have not find time to travel to the US ever since. That is the visa has not been used before and it is left with 1 year to expire. There is this new conference I want to attend before the visa expires.

Is it possible for me to travel on the same visa or I need to apply for a new one. A friend of mine just told me I cannot used that visa because such visas need to be activated 3 to 6 months after issuance and failure to do so render it invalid even though it says on it 5 years multiple. How true is this?

Please, does anyone know something about this?

Thank you.

Your visa is valid until the expiration date. There is no such thing as a "visa activation".

See , this is scary, your friend doesnt know how it works, I am glad you had the chance of asking the question here and get the right answer.
