B2 Ottawa 221g admin. processing + docs, because US contact muslim?

Hi, I am EU citizen and permanent resident of Canada. I have long history with US (H1B from 2004-08, B2 2008-11). My previous B2 just expired, so I went to get a new one. In application I indicated a person from Islamic country as my contact in US. In Ottawa consulate officer said I qualify for a visa but it requires additional administrative processing(blue and yellow forms, + required docs). But before processing can begin she needs me to furnish my CV and letter of duties from my manager. I emailed requested documents. It has been 10 days, I have not had any problems receiving my previous visa, do you think it may be related to the contact on application? I have no tracking number and should I contact the embassy? Any similar experiences? What is the wait? Thanks.
 
No it's not because of your contact, AP is routinely requested for almost all visa applicants with some getting the clearance in few days and the other taking weeks even months.
There are even females that get stuck in AP in India who are not Muslims and go through it.
AP among other factors is based upon applicants Education, Job History etc.
 
Just emailed consulate with inquiry. I am applying for Canadian passport in the fall, I hope these consulate visits will be over with in 2012.
 
Thanks Triple Citizen! I wait for a DHL waybill on the cunsulate page... Or should I call them for it?
 
Email said passport will arrive at DHL destination in 48 hours, it has been 24, waybill not there, how do they work? :)
