B1/B2 to H1B

Hi,

I hold a valid B1/B2 visa for 10years, I was in US from Apr, 2006 to July,2006 and in meantime I got my H1B filed and it got approved by Sept,2006.

Now, I have a approved H1B petition. My employer wants me to come to US on B1 and shall apply for change of status to H1B and asked me to get the stamping at Canada?. I am confused is it the correct way to do or will I face any complications or problems in future ?.

Please do guide me...

Not clear . do you get new H1 or COS form B1? If it a COS and H1 approval comes with I 94 attached to approval reciept you no need to go out of US. IF your H1 comes a new then you have to enter with H1 visa stamped in your passport to start work with your sponser. If you come with B visa you have to transfer to H1 and you can start working only from Oct 1, 2007 if you start appling the change of Status by April 1, 2007
