My friend has a multiple visit visa. Now he is planning to marry a green card holder. If she file for the I 130 for him will his visit visa be cancelled. Would he be able to travel on it until his application is approved. Any input in this regard would be highly appreciated. thanking you in anticipation

Could be denied entry into US using a B2 if a petition has been previously filed indicating adjustment of status, on the other hand if a petition is filed indicating he will be seeking Consular processing and he is carrying a copy of I-130 proving that and a verbal assurance that he will not seek adjustment of status and will go back, then a favorable outcome is expected at POE.

He can surely travel on it. Whether he is granted entry as a temporary visitor is a different story however.

No, a B-2 visa will not automatically be voided. However, it may prove very difficult to use it and/or renew it.
