Hello! I would appreciate if anybody answered my question. I have F-1 visa and I want to invite my mom in the US to visit me. I know that in order to get B-2 visa, my mom has to have enough provments that she is not going to stay in US, that she will come back in Russia. The thing is that she is retired, divorced and doesn’t have younger children (I am the youngest), which probably means that she doesn’t have that provments.
Does she have any chance to get B-2 visa or she shouldn’t even try and I shouldn’t even hope to see her here ???

Thank you,
Lucy

Hi

I am not convinced she would get a B visa approved

You have to show strong, social, financial and family ties to home country

Sec 214 of INA states

# Every applicant shall be deemed an immigrant until such times they prove to the consular officers satisfaction they are not #

Do you have the VWP in her home country? Does she have any other children or granchildren in home country ?

Thank you for quick response

Thank you very much for quick response.
Yes, she has a 36-years old son and 30-years old daughter (my brother and sister). My brother is married and has a 7-years old daughter (my mom’s granddaughter). My mom also has her old mom (my grandmother) who is very sick and can’t stay at home by herself (so, my mom can’t live her for more then a month). May be this situation with my grandmother will help. …. ?
Mom has some money and our 3-room apartment. Financially she is ok.

Thanks a lot....

Russia is not a VWP country.

I have seen cases I never thought would stand a chance get approved.

All she can do is try, put her best case forward, she only has the application fee at risk.

Lusya,
Best way to find out is to apply for a US visa. Chances do not look bright, but it is worth a shot.
