RFE for employment verification

In researching most of the RFE for the years past only 5-7 percent of the logged applicants gets RFEs. If they are employment based, it appears that INS will most likely ask for

2/6 months paystub, 2 years Tax returns and W2 and an employment letter. And we all know that.

I didn’t attach my pay stubs since the lawyers didn’t ask for it. Did any of you not file all these stuff when you applied for the 485? I am trying to find a pattern in these unpredictable RFEs
 
Awaiting plastic

Our GC application was approved on 9th October 2002 and the passports stamped on 28th October. It's been over six weeks and still no sign of the plastic
Gosh! it's been a really trying time for us.
Everything went pretty smooth till our file was pulled out on July 9th. Then an RFE was raised for most silliest issues. For the primary applicant two pictures (out of the six submitted while applying in last August) did not show the left eye clearly - Thanks to SEARS photolab. For the spouse, it was the doctor's assistant who created the issue by not placing a check mark against the box which states that all immunization was up to date.
We sent in the rectified pictures and medical report through the attorney on July 25th.
Since the EAD was valid till 23rd of October, we decided to renew it as well as the AP due to an unavoidable trip to India coming up in November.
We went to the local INS office in the first week of September to check on our status (because the AVM still kept blurting out the same old message that an RFE was issued on July 9th). It was the same message that we got at the local INS office after waiting for almost four hours and moreover they suggested that we file for an extension directly with VSC lest we should lose our turn while the records were being transferred to the local office.
With the extensions were taken care of directly with VSC, we were still clueless about the status of our RFE and the notice clearly stated that there would be no extension of time frame (in our case deadline was 4th of October)
Towards the third week of september, it was best decided that the attorney be contacted and eventually the source of the problem was identified on the 3rd of October. The RFE notices sent to us had the wrong form number. Instead of the RFE mentioning I-485, it said I-765 which promptly landed it in a different department. All of us had overlooked that aspect and then there was this dreaded call from the lawyer's office stating that the primary applicant's photos were received, but the spouse's medical report was misplaced by INS. The lawyer's office decided to ask for a timeline extension because of the mix up. The EAD cards came on the 21st and now we get the approval notice (thankfully some one traced the missing medical report).
Even though a gist of what transpired is mentioned here, the true frustration experienced by us cannot be put in words.
Just wanted to bring it to your attention about the various small factors that can be easily overlooked and the tensions that it can create. SO PLEASE VERIFY EVERY TINY DETAIL IN ALL YOUR PAPERWORK (to save time, money energy and sanity).

VSC/EB3, PD 06/99, RD 08/27/01, ND 10/17/01, AP recd, FP 01/15/2002, RFE 07/09/2002 replied on 25th July 2002, AD 9th October 2002 and stamped on 28th October.

I-485 and Special Registration

Guys, Here is my situation,

My F-1 expired March'99. Took advantage of 245(i) and applied via my employer before April 30, 2001. Currently have the following:

1. Labor Cert. Approved.
2. I-140 Approved (INS Work Auth).
3. Work Permit Card (Valid until Sep. 2003).
4. I-485 (Pending since Aug. 2002).
5. I-485 Finger Print (Done Oct. 2002).
6. State ID.
7. Current PayStubs as proof of Employment.
8. I-94 From 1997.
9. Valid Passport.

What are my chances guys? Would the past affect me badly? Is a valid Work Permit concidered as legal status? Is there anyone who registered with my kind of situation?

This is dummy post. Trying to keep this thread active.

People,
The dates have moved ONLY 2 months since we applied for I-485 and it is almost 8 months since. Is there any hope for approvals to speed up? First there was this un-official 485 freeze, then was the official move to BCIS, what next?

And now, I have to worry about the EAD & AP renewals now. Does anyone know if we can do this ourselves instead of going through those para-legals who do not want to co-operate?

I started preparing for EAD renewal. another 2 weeks i will
apply for that. Yes i heard you can apply your self.
but if you have paralegal, go through with them.

in this economy keeping job is a big deal. +
if this approval takes more time in the sense, we r in real trouble.
don't you think? or even if we get fired or layoff -- do you think we are safe?
 
EAD/AP renewal

Our EAD/AP is valid till Sept 2003 . Should I start applying for the renewal now ( or how many months earlier should I do that ) . I am also planning to do it myself ( 'cos the law firm I am working with is too expensive and my employer is not ready to sponser the EAD/AP ) . Any sugesstions/inputs welcome .
Where can I find these forms on the web ?
 
Is EAD renewal is better or Renew H1 Or Both?

MY EAD would expire in 6 month also my H1 would exipre almost in 6 month. So my I-94 which is stamped in my passport. I have not used EAD /AP nore my my wife had used EAD/AP.
Still on H1/H4
Question: What is prefered
1. Renew only EAD and forget about H1
2. Renew H1
3. Renew H1 and EAD

I would think when we should apply EAD renewal now so if it takes more time then also we should be ok.
I talk with one of my fried, he had renewed EAD and new expire date would be 1 year from old expire date, So its better to do now.
 
AP renewal

To get a multiple entry AP what is the option that has to be checked (on the form ) ? What attachements are we supposed to send ( like last time my manager signed a paper that I might have to make business trips abroad and need multiple entry AP ) .
Can we give some personal reason to get one . Let me know !
 
I-485 approval timing ...

Guys,
A bit confused. Even though officially they're approving upto Nov 15, 2001, but I saw a bunch of cases being approved as late as Dec 20, 2001. In fact I even saw one all the way down to Jan 28, 2002. Now the cases I'm talking about are all work based, not family based. Now question is are these entries right or they've just mistaken their RD-s? Then again, how many people would make the same mistake !?

EAD/AP renewals

Hello Fellow Aug '02 Filers,
Are any of you thinking about doing EAD/AP renewals on your own instead of letting your lawyer doing it?. My attorney will charge $500 and that is just his fees. Ofcourse, there will the actual application filing fee plus photos and mailing costs.

If any of you have already done this or are contemplating on doing the renewals on your own please send me some links to websites or even better if you could post your or any of your friend's experiences. Thanks in advance.

EAD & AP Renewal

Just wanted to update that I applied for EAD & AP renewal through my lawyer.

The wait continues. Latest VSC report says they are approving early December 2001. What does that mean for us? 1 more year?
 
EAD self apply

My H-1B was about to expire. So was my friends H-1B. We decided to apply for EAD ourself together. My friend filled the i-765 form with hand and photocopied the 485 receipt in a black&white copier and sent it in ordinary mail. I printed the form beautifully and took a color copy of 485 receipt. Also mailed it with premium mail. "Ekdum chakachak karke bheja bhidu". My friends EAD was approved in 22 days and mine has not come yet after 2 months.
If you guys are applying for EAD yourself, make sure your application is as rough as possible. It should look natural and genuine. BTW, it is very easy to apply for EAD and AP your self. It costs only $120 for EAD and $110 for AP. It takes only 15 minutes. No need to go to a paralegal who will charge $500 for himself plus the fees.

Do we need signature, name. birthdate, A# on back side of photograph

I am renewing my EAD/AP and forget do we need to sign back side of photograph, or A#, date of birth, name etc.
