Does anybody know the wait time for an interview at the Atlanta Local Office. From the information I have got, this is one of the busiet offices. Its been over 9 months that my case was transferred to this office.
Also, any update on EAD renewal will be greatly appreciated, as to how long does it take and how many months ahead should one apply for renewal

I am also waiting like you

My wife applied for EAD in Dec 02 and got it on March 03, she got the letter after 2 1/2 months. So apply atleast 3 1/2 before it expire. I don't when we are going to get inteview , it is really frustarting.

Thanks JKMAD for your reply. Did you mail in the application for ead for did you go personally to the local office. Do you have any idea of the time frame for scheduling an interview

I renewed my EAD at Atlanta BCIS in April. Send in your application via mail (they will not accept in-person apps) and it'll be about 60 days until you come in to get your picture taken and get the card.

I thought we are suppose to send in the pictures with the application. I am renewing my EAD for the third time. I was hoping to get approved before this. I guess I can just hope. Your early response will be reatly appreciated

You need to send photo with application

You need to send two photograph with the application. They will take picture for EAD card. I don't know what they do with other photograph.

Not for a local office EAD you don't. They will take the pictures when you show up for your appointment. Don't waste your money getting pictures taken.

Am confused

TheRealCanadian,
What appointment are you talking about. Is it for EAD for Green Card. Can you tell me where to find information about renewing at local office. I looked at the website and couldnot find any information that says not to send in the pictures.
I had renewed the EAD earlier at Vermont and had to send in the pictures then
Do you know how long it takes for EAD approval? I read somewhere it takes about 3 months. But I dought if they would approve in 3 months. I applied for AP and was told it will take 30 days but its been over 2 months and haven't heard till now

Does anybody know what happends if one has applied for EAD and EAD expires and one doesnot have a valid H1.

Your feedback will be greatly appreciated.

An EAD renewal at a Local office is a little different than at the Service Centers. To apply, fill out an I-765 form and sign it. Along with that, send a photocopy of your I-485 receipt, as well as a copy of the Transfer Notice (so they don't forward your app to the SC). Attach a check for the fee ($120? I can't remember) and mail it all to the BCIS office your I-485 has been transferred to. You do NOT need to provide pictures.

Within a few days, you'll get a really amatuer-looking receipt.

After that, in about 60 days you'll get an appointment letter from Atlanta BCIS asking you to come in on a certain date. When you arrive at the office, make sure you skip the usual queue of people waiting otuside the building, and ask the security guards to let you in. They will not do so unless you bring your appointment letter, so don't lose it or forget to bring it with you. When you enter the building, skip the lineup inside, and go directly to the room handling the EADs (it will be on your letter). When you arrive, they'll take your letter, and you'll wait (around 25 minutes, it's pretty good as BCIS goes). They'll take your fingerprint (right index) and your photo, and about 10 minutes later you'll get a really shoddy looking EAD card, compared to the stuff the Service Centers generate.

You may want to take a passport or other ID, as well as a copy of your I-485 receipt. Reason being if they cannot find your file, they can get the receipt number and look things up. It's cheap insurance.

Hope that helps explain the procedure.

TheReal...,
Is there any update on your case ? Did you try contacting your local Senator or lawyer since the Special Registration is now over and you still have'nt heard anything back ? Or do you think doing that is of no use and wise thing to do is just WAIT... WAIT and WAIT ?

I contacted my local Memebr of the House of Representatives, Johnny Isakson. His office told me that there was nothing further that they can do, but they sent me the TSC expedite criteria (which was oh so helpful since my case was NEVER at TSC.)

Just a load of garbage. I'll work for his opponent in the Senate primary next year to get my revenge. [evil grin]

thanks TheRealCanadian

That really helped. I had not thought about sending the transfer notice but what you said really makes sence. But I think I am going to send the pictures too as I already have them and also donot want them to reject my application just because the pictures were missing. I shall keep you posted.

I think what we can I do is just wait wait and wait. Its been over 9 months that my case is transfered and I have stopped thinking about it.

Good Luck

thanks Guys

I submitted my EAD renewal online. Oh man its really cool. I would recommend everybody renewing the EAD to do it online.
Also, can all of Atlanta transferies gettogether and figure out where we stand. Does anybody have any idea of the timeline from friends whose cases may have been transfered and where actually called for an interview?

Have a good friday!

Given BCIS' propensity for "losing" things I'd personally feel leery of e-filing when you have a case transferred to the District Office until I know how this will pan out. However, we now have you as our guninea pig. ;)

AILA updated their national processing times page at the end of May; Atlanta went from 400-500 days for I-485s to 500-720, which jives with the information I have received thus far from BCIS Atlanta and Congressional liasons. It's been 654 days since my I-485 receipt date, so we'll see what happens in the next two months.

TheRealCanadian

I don't mind to be a guninea pig as long as its benificial to somebody. You have nothing to lose by applying online. Got a REAL receipt from BCIS(not a amatuer-looking receipt) and it clearly says that if you donot receive the EAD in 80 days from date of receipt then one can go to the local office and get an interim one...on the same day.
Anyways....can you send me a link as to where we can see the processing dates fro Atlanta. Is it from the Transfer date or the original receipt date. if its the original receipt date then I have already crossed 700 days.....

If you got a real mailed printed receipt from BCIS, that's an encouraging sign (compared to the crap the District Offices send you). I'll keep my fingers crossed for you.

Sure - its http://www.aila.org/fileViewer.aspx?docID=10369. (It's a PDF document). I have Atlanta at 510-730. Please note that these are AILA observed times, not BCIS. I believe that Atlanta is currently going based on original receipt date at the service center, since when I got my fax from the Congressional liason they said that the "receipt date" was 8/28/01. This is big for me, since my RD and ND are two months apart.

Once your 730 days pass I would suggest that you may want to contact your Congressman or Senator to see if they can do a status inquiry for you. You'll want to know the status of your case, and what RDs they are scheduling interviews for.
