ATL interview

Hi y'all,

Today I received ATL interview notices for my wife and I (she will redo her FP on September 18 --- a Saturday---, as the first ones expired. I redid mine on July 28). The interview is on October 5th. Has anyone any experience with Officer C? I would appreciate any input.

My case is quite straighforward (my attorney says that it is just a "quality control" interview, in other (not so nice) words, I'm unlucky... so they pulled my file out of the pile and sent it for interview): no job changes, etc.

My wife is a dependent: should I consider her family-based case or should I look at the primary applicant (myself), who's "employement-based"? Apparently, they have different requirements as far as documents that I need to bring at the interview. By the way, if approved, will they stamp our passport, or I have to drive to Atlanta again?

Check out the "Atlanta Local office" thread in the VSC I-485 transfer forum. There's a lot of messages in that thread, but read the last 5 or so pages to get a feel for interviews. The first year of that thread is just bitching about ATL USCIS not scheduling interviews at all.

Most Atlanta interviews are straightforward. Make sure you have an EVL, latest 1040s and W-2s, passport, and basic documentation.

Your wife is employment-based too. Just to be safe, make sure you bring a copy of your marriage certificate and proof that your marriage is bona fide like shared bank account statements, etc. I was not asked and I have not heard of anyone being asked, but better safe than sorry.

Yes, they should, provided your IBIS checks are up to date. They can request a visa number on the spot (and since the new FY has started on october 1st you are pretty much guaranteed a number) so you should be good to go. ATL USCIS seems to be on the ball with security checks so as long as your wife's FP clear you will be leaving with a stamp.

you are so lucky that inspite of the interview call you got scheduled so quickly (!?). Many of us had a three year wait!! The interview should be a breeze.

Read through your 485 application to familiarize the contents. You will be asked to verify some of that. If you travelled outside since filing 485 be prepared to show documents (such as AP if on AOS pending or H1 otherwise). Copies of 1040, W2, Birth Cert, Passport (picture page only), and DL for both you and your wife will be asked for. Take them with you to avoid delay.

Officer XX does not matter - it is the same process.

You will get your passport stamped and fill in a I-89 as well on the spot. Get your address updated if needed for I-89. That will be used to create your card. You will get your card within a month or so.

Your wife should go to the ASC early (as early as she can) to get the FP done. Saturdays are busy - avoid that - Wednesday should be better, later in the day when not too crowded. ASC is run by contractors - they will be happy to take her FP and claim the fee from the Govt sooner if they can!

I received my FP notice from ADO. My FP is on 10/06. I haven't received my interview notice, yet.
