I got asylum from a Judge after rejection by Asylum officer.

My elder brother has come to the States on tourist visa and has 6 months and now he has five months visa to stay here.

He wanted to apply for asylum and he filed his asylum after being in the States for 45 days.

I am thinking of helping him with the interpretation from his native language to English as i know his case well and my English is fine.

Will I have to sign or print my name or give any info such as my address to the asylum officer during his interview?

Will they find out I am also an asylee? Do I have to tell I am his brother?

Can I still help him with the interpretation?
Also, Do the asylum officer allow to bring in a witness or representative besides the applicant himself and the interpreter?

Thanks.

Thanks.

When I went for interview, IO made a copy of the interpreter DL. The asylum officer asked me where I met the interpreter.
Yes, the asylum officer will ask information about the interpreter. But remember this isnt about you, they just want to make sure, your 're translating in a correct manner.

From what I know, only applicants and intepreters are allowed the building. This information can be confirmed by other forums members.

good luck

You can bring an interpreter (any adult who understands both languages who is not a witness for you), witnesses and of course your attorney to the interview.

It is my understanding that if you bring an interpreter to your interview, that person should not be related to you. I don't know how they can prove that, though.

I think a relative of you can serve as a translator. Just your attorney is not allowed. A friend of mine served as a translator (GC interview - Relative petition) to his mother 2 weeks ago.
