Hi everybody! I got asylum approval a couple of days ago. Happy!
bUT the thing is that they messed up with my mail address and now I have only a copy of original approval letter and I-94.
The photocopy of I-94 is not really clear. What is supposed to be written there? I know that they stamp "Asylum grantad" but on my form the first word is GRANTED and the second I can not understand. I am just freaking out again that they might stamp it wrong. I am becoming paranoic:eek:

Please reply

how you got final approval? in judge or asylum office?

mailed or from asylum ofice? how long it took you from recommended to final approval?

Hi! I think I was lucky. I got it after the interview from the officer. I was on visa here and it took me 3 month to get approval. It was final approval right away, not recommended. The only problem that they messed up with my address and I got only a copy of a letter and I-94 in asylum office.

Guys, please, let me know what kind of stamp on your I-94. I understand that the question is stupid, but I really need to know.

Thank you

My stamp says:

ASYLUM STATUS GRANTED INDEFINITELY PURSUANT TO SEC. 208 OF THE I&N ACT ON

THE DATE

Thanks! So I guess this second word I cannot read must be "Indefinitely". So now I can calm down:) Thank you

Hehe, I guess so. Type in what your I-94 says...

And, maybe you should call customer service and ask them. Do you have an LIN number for your case?

It is " Granted Indefinitely
Section 208
Immigration and Nationality Act

Date and then some numbers I cannot read.

I cannot see ASYLUM STATUS, may be it is on the top of a stamp and they didn't copy the stamp completely

Go back to your local office and get a new I-94. You should always have the original of the I-94 as this is your proof of status until you file for adjustment of status and get a GC. I would also ask for a certified copy of the asylum approval notice or grant of asylum as well.

They told me to apply for I-94 replacement. It is form I-102. It will cost around 600 dollars to replace for me and my dependent. Even iti is not my fault that they messed up with the address, the I-94 reported as lost no matter what. But I will apply anyway. Thank you

Hi Malel,

You should apply without the fee and a letter explaining that you NEVER got your I-94 although you provided the correct address and never moved since your grant. The form says that if it is a USCIS mistake, the applicant does not have to pay the fee.

If they return the form to you asking for a fee, then I guess you are stuck paying it. If not, you are good! Just try it the first time without the fee and an explanation why you think it is a USCIS mistake/error.

Good luck.
