You have to fill another I-485 form. But wait...When did you apply for GC through asylum?

We have similar ND and nobody knows when we will get the GC. Some people guess that it will take 2-3 years according to the speed USCIS is processing cases now.

A friend (asylee) of mine apply for the GC through marriage and he got his temporary residence card 4 months later after applying. Now he has to wait 2 years to get the permanent card.

I do not know what to say you to do.

Where do you reside? In many places it could take about two years to have a family adjustment case processed. This has nothing to do with quotas (there are no quotas for spouses of citizens) but USCIS inefficiency.

It is probably NOT worthwhile to go forward with another application now that the asylum adjustment quota is gone. If you live in one of these busy INS districts you are NOT likely to receive your green card sooner. And also if you have had some problems with your immigration history as most asylees do then they will almost certainly deny your family adjustment case. So I would sit tight.

WEll I would say that it is only reasonable for you to go ahead with marriage based adjustment ONLY IF you had never been illegal (and oboviouly entered the country legall). Be very sure about it.... If this is the case, then go ahead and apply for it based on marriage.

This removal of quota for asylees is not going to do anything soon. Atleast it would take them 4 years to clear backlogs. So I would not rely on it. go ahead with marriage based GC if you meet above conditions.
