Folks is there different codes in the INS SYSTEM for ASYLEES.. I know after approval they give us A5 STATUS but is there a difference if your approval was based on IMMIGRATION JUDGE, ASYLUM OFFICER AND RECOMMENDED LETTER TO APPROVE ASYLUM..

NO.
BUT A RECOMMENDATION LETTER DOES NOT YET CONVEY STATUS A5

ok but

what about after recommendation letter has been approved you get an asylum approval letter which means you get an A5 STATUS RIGHT

ok this is the problem

All of my family members have A5 STATUS. Now my mother, sister and brother got a recommendation letter and finally got an approval letter in may 1999.. I did not get a recommendation letter but got an approval letter. In 2001 they all adjusted their status for green card but i refused to do it because it will take longer to get a green card so i told them i will find me a woman to do it.. Just recently we went to social security office to try to change the SSN CARD to unrestricted version. i was allowed to do mine but my brother and sister were told they adjusted their status to green card and their application was pending so they cant change the SSN CARD but the new card they will get be the same old one with INS EAD authorization.. I dont know what INS did in the system but i need someone's advise or opinion on this matter...

You already posted this question earlier and elicited responses from other forum members, right?

Again, what you are saying below is untrue. I am a volunteer with a community group in Miami. I helped many asylees apply for normal social security cards Whether they have applied for I-485 does not matter. Asylum status continues indefinitely. The only way to lose that would be for the INS to revoke it. Filing for adjustment of status does not alter your asylum status.

We retain our asylum status untill USCIS will approve adjustment to PR. The process can take up to 15 years and all those years we are and will be asylees. The problem is the untrained stuff in Government Offices. I would suggest to get a supervisor and explain the problem. Don't forget to print out some documents from INS web site stating about our status and Employment authorization.

What the SS people told you makes no logical sense.
