quick questions

one of the requirments for the interview is to list your assets, I have a homeloan which I paid a small part of it already, do I have to list it as an asset and does that affect my immigration intention?

second part to my question is, when I show them my bank balanace does the balance have to be come with 6 months statement?

thanks for your time

a home loan is a liability, not an asset. A home is an asset.

there are different ways of proving that you will not become a public charge... Assets and bank accounts are not the only ones.

so if I show my bank statement and a job offer for me even though my wife is the winner, that would be better than showing the homeloan with a bit of equity?

Get this ... a home loan is not an assett. It's a liability so just get an update on the current value of your home and present it to the consular as an assett. If you have a 6 months bank statement which is not in the red, then fine.

Other forums have also mentioned getting a current valuation on your property from a real estate agent, and having a current statement showing the mortgage against it. This will enable them to work out how much equity you have in your property.

Try to have 12 months worth of bank statements and records of any managed funds etc.

I don't think Superannuation is accepted as Australian super funds can only be accessed in exceptional circumstances (bankruptcy, funeral costs, severe disability), or upon reaching retirement age.

bare with me please

Can I show them our bank account which has more than the bare min, and show them my job offer (wife is the DV winner) and not show them anything to do with my home loan? or do I also have to show them my home loan?

no, thank you... :) I just don't know you that well. :) And I am married. :)

You don't need to and shouldn't show them your home loan. Now, if you have a document of some kind showing the house's fair market value - that wouldn't hurt.

Thanks Lucy

I will take the documents with me and then show them the homeloan and an evluation estimate by the realestate agent in the area, and only show it to them if they ask for more documnets which I dont think they will.

They consider you as a family at the interview. My wife was the primary applicant and she's been a 'housewife' with an H4 visa (she wasn't allowed to work) so all the W2s, paychecks, bank accounts, letter of employment, everything was under my name. It was no problem at all.

Do you mean it wouldn't hurt because of a mortgage? Or the same thing with the 100% ownership? I was under impression that property (if owned fully) is a good proof of not being a public charge.
