Are all green cards independent?

I may have confused some of you with the title.
I will try and phrase my question with an hypothetical set of circumstances:

Imagine I got my green card on a family basis (my father worked in the U.S and was eligible for a green card). One year after getting my 10-year unconditional green card, my father decided to return to his state of birth and return the green card. In such a situation, am I doomed, or is my green card now independent of my fathers and I am allowed to stay? Am I allowed to stay even if my entire family let go of their green card?

Thanks in advance...

Yes and yes.

Thanks for your response.
But doesn't the fact that the father moved back to his state of birth mean that he "lied" to get his GC (said he would work in the US where he really didn't for a long time). And doesn't that invalidate the entire family's green cards?

Changing one's mind is perfectly acceptable. Unless there was fraud involved in getting the GC and that fraud is discovered, the rest of the family should be fine.
