Does anyone have any idea about informing INS with change of address in 10 day after moving? And what address does INS have on it\'s file as the old address - the one which is on the petition or the one which we fill in on DS156 to obtain visa?

Can someone clarify? and how serious is this issue?

If you have informed INS of your current address

in any form (petition or I94) that is enough. Remember the DS156 goes to the Dept of state which has nothing to do with INS.
This may not be the only reason for which some action may be taken against you. But if you are found to violate some other serious INS norm and this infraction will also be used to prosecute you. What is called as "throw the book" at you.
I wouldn\'t worry too much about it. But I would rather file AR11 today(even if it is 10yr from my last communication with INS) then to wait for INS to swoop down.

I appreciate your reply. INS should have my last address, which is also my current address, from my latest I-94 form. Do you still see a need for me to file AR11?

There is an email I heard floating around that sounds quite serious about this latest address issue (http://www.murthy.com/bulletin.html#2).

I am not worried about this issue, just curious and to be on safe side, especially in the post 9/11 scenario. I have always abided by the law and would like to continue to do so, proactively if possible.

You can always prove that

you did inform INS about the new address thru I94. So relax. But if you are still not convinced you can send an AR11 tomorrow.

I am planning to fill out the address change form and came across your posts. I\'d appreciate if you could answer my question.

I came to the U.S. on F-1 visa and then changed to H-1B and extended my H-1B last year. I have not left the U.S. since except for a short road trip to Canada. I never filed the AR-11 form before because I was not aware of the requirement. I do not know which address to use as my last address on the AR-11 form. The one I put on my original I-94 when I first came or the one on my H-1 extension petition? Thanks very much for your help.
 
What is A - Number to be filled if you are on H1B visa

I was filling the AR-11 form but had no idea what to fill for the A- number.
Does anybody have an idea whay no is this:
Is it yor SS No. or the H1 recipt No. or the I94 no. or the Visa Control No.
 
Both answers...

The address in I94 is already with INS. If there was a address change after that, that is what you have to mention.
A# is for GC holders. Leave it blank or say none.
