AR-11 for temp move: required??

Hello,
I am staying in a hotel for 3 months for a project in a different state and will be back at my residence after this. I am maintaining my residence and have the place.

Do i NEED to file AR-11?

The form does have section saying that this is temporary move and "I will be here until".

But i am wondering if this is really required? I will probably move to a different hotel in a 3-4 weeks since all nice places are booked now. But this means I file yet another AR-11, and then of course one more once i am back at my residence.

TheRealCanadian, Ginnu, others: What is your opinion please?
 
I don't think so in my opinion. However for peace of mind, you can always send one in.

If you are maintaining your permanent address and will have access to mail that is sent there (either through forwarding or friends/family checking your mail), I don't think being in a hotel for a couple of months means you have to file an AR-11.

My interpretation of a "temporary move" that requires AR-11 would be a case where you are relocating and have given up your prior house and are staying in a hotel or short-term apartment lease until you find a permanent place. Or, you are long-term temporary, like going off to university for a year or two.

But that is just my opinion and I could be wrong.

So this means I don't have to file AR-11 for the current situation, right?

I am thinking about 10 days stipulation....

(Because of difficult flight connections from my home to the client site, i am just not flying back and forth every week, since it is just 2 to 3 months tops)
 
Hi,

I would appreciate your feedback. we moved to a new address and I filed AR-11 online. Is there anything else I should worry? what about my kids who are US citizens?

If you maintain your residence, then you are not moving.

Based on your logic, half of us travelling types will be filling out forms each week:)
