Approved

I check my status online on the weekends too. I sent my RFI only recently so I should not be expecting to hear any sort of approval from them so soon, but I can't help but check; it is like you have a new lottery ticket every day and are checking daily whether you won or not : "damn, not today".
I know the feeling! By the way, what RFI did they ask you to submit (the one you said you recently submitted) if you don't mind me asking (and if you don't mind answering)?

Congradulations! I am happy for you! Do you think the fact that you applied in 1997 helped or do they consider you ND 2005? By the way what's Writ of Mandamus?

By the way, did you get the approval letter in the mail or online/email? I was just surprised to hear you were approved on a Saturday! Enjoy your GC!!
nobody works on saturdays in USCIS

I'm so happy for you! Your determination is finally paying off. It's such a joy for me to see you going free - almost like it's happening to myself. My most sincere congratulations!

I was asked for medicals and The Biographic info (which I had sent with my application in 2004 since they asked it with the application back then). I don't know if they will ask for additional evidence or not. They usually don't, but who knows. The name check is only for criminal records, right? I do not have any criminal records and my first name is a very unique name (even in my COP) so I am guessing the name check should not take long. Before coming across this forum, I had no idea that the cap was removed ; I had stopped visiting the INS site for updates because I was not expecting to hear any progress from INS on my case till at least 3 years later, so when I found this forum and read about all the changes with INS this past year and then received my RFI and BIO request, suddenly that excitement came back. Now I am too excited to wait, while back in Nov when I was unaware of all these changes, my case did not even come to my mind much in my day-to-day life.

I got approved today too. It happened so quickly! See my timeline below. I am sure the Writ had something to do with it. I will still hang around on this site, of course, even if I get beaten occasionally by my comrades for merely expressing my opinion. By the way, if you need a good lawyer in DC/VA/MD area, let me know.

Asylum Approved - 1996
Adjustment Application filed - 1997
Application lost by INS - September 2004
Filed Again - April 2005 (looked for a good lawyer)
FP - Sept. 2005
Writ of Mandamus filed with a court in Lincoln, Nebraska - January 2006
RFE ND- February 28
RFE received by USCIS - March 1
Case Approved today - March 3

Congratulations 14ksusha.

Good luck to others.

Thank you! Regarding your timeline, have you tried tracking your case down? I hope they didn't lose it.

it's there, I talked to IO in SA in november she told me to wait.
