applying for spouse GC while living seperately

I am a green card holder soon to be a US citizen...in Jan!! my husband has H1-B status. we have been married for 4 months. he will be filing for his GC as soon as i have my citizenship!
the only issue is that we dont live together. We had our Court marriage in July of this year and we plan on having a big wedding with family and friends in Pakistan in July 2010. until then i will continue to live with my parents and my husband will live in a different state where he works and goes to school!
so my concern is whether or not the different addresses and our current living situation will cause any problems or delays in his application process!!!

Also my husband can not travel out of country as he does not have a visa only the status.
 
so will he get his travel document within three months?? and is there a chance of him getting his interview date before his travel document??
 
He should get his AP in 3 months. He may get his interview notice too. The actual interview is most likely not going to be in the first 3 months, but one never knows.

is there a way to postpone or reschedule the interview without it affecting the AP?? because we cant go for the interview until we start living together.
 
You are getting ahead of yourself. If he applies for AOS 3 months before the wedding in Pakistan, 99% chances your interview will be a few (3-4) months after you return from Pakistan.

is that the case... because we were under the impression that the interview letter can arrive before the AP and may cause problems for him to travel out of country for the wedding!!
 
and isnt it true that these days the entire process takes only 3-4 months?? they are much more quicker with the whole thing..
 
There have been cases for AOS taking 3-4 months. However I believe the national average is still closer to 6 months.

Yes, the 3-4 month period is based on everything going smoothly (also depends on your DO and service center; CA is significantly faster than the rest of the country with the 3 month average). In case of any delays, 5 month is a more realistic estimate. If you apply for his GC in Jan, ideally you should get the AP within 60 days (see my time line), but every case is different. You can look at the time lines of others (in august, september and october family based AOS filers threads) to get an overall idea.

your time line shows that you received your AP within 60 days after submitting the application...it also shows that u received your interview letter on the same day...now my concern is that if my husband receives his interview letter around the same time as his AP...is it possible for him to reschedule his interview for until after we come back to the US?? and will this affect his AP??
