Applying for GC while on VWP - Should we use lawyer?

I arrived in the US on the VWP and my BF proposed to me while I was here. We're getting married within the next few weeks and I'm applying for a Green Card. (VWP expires at end of July so we're doing it before then).

We've consulted a lawyer and he told us he will charge $2500 for his services, plus the charges for the actual GC application etc. Is it worth it? Are there any benefits to using him for this process or should we just do it ourselves?

Many thanks.

Adjustment on the basis of marriage to a US citizen is pretty straightforward. You're paying someone $2,500 to fill out forms that you can do yourself.

Okay. Thanks. I'm pretty sure we can do it all ourselves, I just wasn't sure if there was any benefit to having a lawyer at our backs... Or if our specific situation might benefit from having a lawyer present. I think we learnt as much as we needed to know just from the free consultation - we need proof that I intended to go home - which I'm gathering right now.

Don't waist your money.
Lawyers only need to be used in complicated cases.

Follow the DIY thread we gave you a link to and you'll be fine.
