Guys, This morning I got an email from USCIS informing me that my CR89 ( 751) has been approved and card production has been ordered.

My question is can I apply for citizenship after 3 years of being a permanent resident( while bing married)? Initially I got the GC after approval of I-130/I-485 in June 2006. Is that card considered a temporary GC ( till removal of conditions) or can I apply for naturalization in June 2009?

485 paproved /130 approved/GC sent: 6/3/06

I 751/ CR89 Applied (VSC) : 4/20/2008

CR 89 Approved/ Card Ordered: 4/10/2009

Thanks,
AJ

If you have been married to a US citizen for the last 3 years, you have lived together for the last 3 years and your spouse has been a US citizen for the last 3 years, then you could apply 90 days before your 3rd GC anniversary, which was March.
You didn't have to wait for your I-751 approval.
Anyways, at this point, just wait for the new GC to come in the mail and send out your N-400.

You can apply 90 days before your 3rd year PR date on the Green Card if marriage based Green Card or 90 days before your 5th year PR date if work based.

You do not nessicarly have to have the conditions removed to apply, there are several instance where people have not got the conditions removed yet, but have satisfied the 3 year PR requirement and gain citizenship without ever having to get a 10 year Green Card...

It's important to note that the up to 90 day early grace period applies specifically to meeting continuous residence while being LPR for statutory length.

You need 3 full years of being married to someone who has been a US citizen for at least the past 3 years. But you only need 3 years minus 90 days of continuous residence as an LPR, since being approved for your green card (whether it was a conditional or full 10 years card).
