Applying for Citizenship and Green-card Renewal

My green-card will expire on March 2014. (10 year anniversary)
I would like to apply for US Citizenship asap. Let us say January 2013.

Now, per Jackolantern, as I approach my GC renewal date, if my citizenship application is still pending, as long as I had applied for the citizenship before 6 months prior to my GC expiry, I am entitled to a free I-551 stamping in my passport.

I just want to confirm this.

It is possible for a free I-551 stamping in your passport.You can the National Customer Center or Call to 1-800-375-5283.
