Applying Canadian TN status at US-Mexico Border

Hello, I am a Canadian citizen working under TN status and currently reside in Texas.
I was able to get my renewal in 2019 before the pandemic at the nearby US-Mexico Border, which is convenient for me.
I am wondering if I could do the same (with appointment maybe?), or should I visit the US-Canada border instead.

You will have to check if an appointment is required at the Border. You can apply at the US-MEX border, why to travel long to US-CAN border when you can do the same at US-MEX border

US-MEX border currently do not require an appointment. You can walk-in and they will stamp your passport accordingly. I did mine at San Ysidro couple of week ago and did the same.

That's great news, thank you both!

What is the requirement for cross the borders and back (flag poling)
Does either side require recent negative test result or would the proof of 2 shots + booster be good enough?

At San Ysidro, they do not ask for Vaccination status or the booster, however I would suggest that you do carry the proof of Vaccination. No PCR test is required. There is no flag poling at San Ysidro. You enter Mexico (pass immigration) and come right back to US.

Don't quote me on this but I dont think you must travel to a border location. CBP website says:

Question:How can Canadian citizens obtain TN and L1 classifications?
Answer:Canadian citizens can continue to apply for TN and L classifications at U.S. ports of entry or U.S. preclearance facilities with the required documentation.

Then use this link to locate a port of entry: cbp.gov/contact/ports

Ports of entry for this purpose can be any airport. HOWEVER, you need to be entering US, not just showing up at an airport.
So, yes, you need to leave US to get TN. How you choose to do that (cross by land at border, or fly back and forth from another country, or even cruising to another country) is up to the petitioner.

So, we won't quote you, ripe!
