Hello all,
I applied for OCI (on Aug 8 2011 - INdia) and my visa is expiring on Sept 22 2011. At the online status site it says that typically the processing time is 30 days. I just wanted to keep a backup i.e. I am thinking of going to Singapore and get a new visa for India so that I don't run the risk of overstaying my visa period.

My questions

1) Does anyone know how fast OCI get's done in India (most recent times ?)
2) Has anyone tried to get Indian Visa from Singapore ?

Currently I have

U.S Citizen
Tourist Visa for 6 months expiring on Sept 22 2011.
Oci application date: Aug 8 2011

---They say something on website and don't go by info on site. Itt may take 30-45 days. you can read latest info related OCI through Indian consulates in US(links /updates are posted in this thread )

--------------------You CAN get Entry Visa from Indian Consulate (through Travisa) before you go out. if apply Entry visa through Travisa in NYC then one can get visa in 2-3 days or if send by Post then expect 5-7 days.
My questions

------ Do you mean you applied OCI from India? If answer is Yes then Check with nearest FRRO or Contact Delhi and find the information.
2) Has anyone tried to get Indian Visa from Singapore ?
-----------------Others may post if they have any info . Why don't you check Indian consulate Singapore site?

You may get your OCI before Sept 22. did you check the OCI online status?
*** Update us how the problem got resolved.

Good Luck!!

Thanks harvydonald but I had checked specifically about this with Travis when I was in New York embassy. They had mentioned that the 2 month rule applies only when you return to U.S. If you visit any other country from India then the 2 month rule does not apply.

Anyone who has gotten OCI from Delhi ? (Minstry of Home Affairs) I am thinking of going there in person since the online status is still the same (status pending)

Mine was a long time back but sure you can go to Delhi and asked them to expedite the OCI with some bakhsish ... wait for them to ask rather than offer given the current anti corruption noise. If you stick your neck in their office 3-4 times with a pleading look, someone will come out of the OCI cell and offer help ;-)
