Applied for EAD twice

This is an update to my earlier mail where I had enquired about applying for EAD with a fresh 2nd application if I did not get a Notice for the first application ( I was renewing my EAD ).

Here is the case history. I applied for my EAD and AP in the first week of July, 02. Got AP receipt within a week. Did not get EAD receipt for almost 3 weeks, and since my current EAD expires on 10/24/02 didn't want to take any risk, so sent in another application on August 10.

The reason I did not get a receipt for the first EAD application, I feel, was due to the fact that I did not put A#, instead I put I-94 number on the application.

I got the the receipt from INS (NSC) for the second EAD within a week with RD August 13 and ND August 14.

To top it all, I received my EAD card for the first application last monday (on August 19th), for which I did not receive any receipt from INS.

I had called the IIO who was totally useless, who told me that my application is not in the system, and he won't know how much time it would take.

Since, all the applications are consolidated (and checked against) same file, they will notice that the EAD has already been issued. You may send a letter and fax to INS stating that you want to withdraw the ohter EAD application because.....la la la.... Don't forget to put your A# and receipt number. INS indexes files by A# number (if an applicant is assigned one).

Not likely to

yield any results. Forget the money. U will get another EAD after some weeks. That is most probably what is going to happen. Dont budget for the check you think will be returned...
