Hi ,
I have question for you.
Just now found over the Automated System, that my Wife\'s AP was approved on March 1st. But we haven\'t received the approval.
My son and mine are not yet approved.
So, I have a question:
a) My wife is planning to go for a visit to India along with my son. So, as soon as she receives her approval notice, can she travel with my son?
I am hoping that my son will get his AP approval before they leave.
If not, can I mail his approval to India?.

Please reply.
Thanks

Generally, you should have your AP in hand before leaving US (They do not check it, but the dates might be verified later). However, you can walk into the local INS and get the AP for your Son to be on the safer side. Show the tickets and the receipt numbers of your wife and son as additional proof. Do it a week before travel , so that if necessary you can go to the nearest district INS office (where they have to give the AP no matter what) if the local INS refuses to give the AP.
It is better to have all the documentation ready then to invite trouble. My 2c

questions on AP to Jaxen

Hi Jaxen,

I want some info on Advance parole.
I came to US with J1 visa and currently I transferred it to H1b visa. Present H1b visa has validity till October 2002 (it can be further renewed for three more years). I have my I485 pending at TSC. I need to make a visit to India by end of May,2002.
q1. Should I apply for AP at TSC or local INS office.
q2. I have not got H1 visa stamped on my passport yet. Is it a good idea to go to Mexico and get it stamped or get it stamped in India, before returning US. When I take it to either Mexico or India it H1 visa validity period will be under six months. Any risk?

Thanks in advance

Q1.As a backup you can do AP. You can apply it for yourselves. So all you will be spending is the application fee, photo and postage.

Q2. You can do it (validity is not an issue). But remember if there is something that is generally evaluated in your home country the US consulate in Mexico might not grant you the stamping (but will not reject your app). The only risk is that in your future trip you have to use AP, which can be covered by 1 above.
