My AP approved on 5/14 and approval notice was received by my attorney serveral days later. :) Case status was updated online on 5/17. However, on 5/24 online case status updated again stating my AP was approved on 5/21.

So far I haven't received the AP document. My question is how long it normally takes to get the AP? Is it going to my attorney or to me directly?

I've booked flight ticket to travel abroad in one month. Keep my finger crossed... :(

----- after approval it may take 5-10 days
Is it going to my attorney or to me directly?
----- if lawyer filed it will go to lawyer

don't worry. your AP got approved and you will get it physically within 10 days. If your lawyer has applied AP for you, then he will get it or if you applied by yourself, you will get it.

my receipt date is march 22nd. Hope i will get it soon too.

thanks lavanya2002. good luck to you too.

just don't understand why cis updated my approval date.

if i don't get it next week, anything i can do to get it before july? appreciate any information or suggestions.

My RD is March 15th. I havent heard anything so far. when i called the customer service last week , they told me that they can do an enquiry only if 30 days have passed from the published processing date.

Hopefullly i will get it before that.

AP approved still waiting for the document!

Hi my AP application got approved on May 18th but so far my attorney has not received anything from them. My 485 was transferred back to Chicago INS. So I filed AP application to Chicago and it was processed in Missouri. The RD was March 22nd. I'm wondering too when I can receive the document since my ticket abroad is in 18 days..........

u r wrong. People in this forum need true info not ur personal info. Unless u have an AP in ur hand it's not advisable to go.
U can do whatever u want with ur case but plz don't give false personal opinions to others

iam in the same boat. I got my approval on june 1st. but iam thinking of going on 9th june whether or not i get the parole documnets beacuse once it is approved, we can go. we need to show the parole only when we are returning. if you can have somebody post the parole to India, you wil be fine.

if you review the instructions on form I-131, you will find that " you cannot leave the country unless your AP is approved." That means you can go after its approval.

this only my personal opinion.

Absolutely not a good idea - unless you have non-expired visa (like H1) that you can use for re-entry.
If don't have have a non-expired, there are several possibilities of getting stuck. AP can be lost in mails in USA (when USCIS sends it to you/your lawyer). It can be lost in courier when your friend/lawyer sends to India (yes, it does happen - even in courier mails). So don't be assured unless the document is in your hand. If you are in India and the AP does not come through, will your friend/lawyer will take the hassle on his/her shoulder and dig out the AP? There are 99% change change it will go alright, your friend will receive it, send it to India and you will be receive it on time. But on the other hand you could be unfortunate 1 out of that 100 who will be in trouble.

updated information

I got my AP in mail today. Unfortunately my first name was misspelled. I called the CIS service number and a representative told me after consulting a "specialist" that I would have to reapply the AP if I want my name corrected which as you all know would easily take another 3 months. Being frustrated I plan to go to local Chicago INS next Monday to see if I can get any help there. I believe what several of you have said that we need to hold the AP document before we leave the country. My AP application is based on employment-based I-485 adjustment so it was sent to and processed in the national benefit office in Lee's Summit, MO. The center doesn't deal with customers directly. I will try to fax them as well.

Thanks for your replies!

----- if you wrote the correct name on I-131 form and have copy of the Form take it with you if it is USCIS mistakey they may correct it

----- send the FAX with AP copy and mark the wrong name on it and write the correct name. if it is USCIS mistake they will correct it if it is your mistake you have to file new AP with new fees

updates on my AP

Unfortunately my AP case was processed in the national benefits center in Lee's Summit, MO which does not deal with customers directly so the fax I found was probably not theirs. My lawyer said it was fine just to take this AP with me and come back. One immigrantion officer in Kansas City also said it'd be probably fine. But to be cautious I'd still mail the document to the center to see if they can do anything about it before I leave. If no response by then I'll leave with my current AP with one letter omitted from my first name. My lawyer said the alien number and the birth date are the most important ones. I was advised to take my previous parole and I-485 receipt notice with me. How do you think about it?
Thanks!
