AOS Pending - Job Application?

Hey guys, I am waiting for my green card interview, which should take place anytime within the next 2 to 3 months. There is a job out there that I am really interest in and that start date for the job is not until June 2014. When I looked through the application process and it asks me if I am a permanent resident.

Now my question is, can I apply for that job now even though I don't have my green card yet?
I don't want to miss out on the opportunity and I am sure I'll have my green card by June 2014 but I also don't want to lie and tell them that I am a permanent resident now, even though I am not. The other concern is that if I tell them that I'm not a resident then they will not consider my application.

I don't want to break any law by applying now so it would be great if someone with experience would help me out!

Does the job explicitly state that a green card or citizenship is required?

Or are they only asking what your status is? How is the question worded?
 
the posting says that permanent residency is required and going through the online application it is being asked about my current immigration status. I'd love to apply for that job but I think I know the answer and that would be not to apply and wait and hope until I get my greencard or at least my EAD.
 
If it's not a government job or government-related (i.e. a government contract with a private firm), EAD should be sufficient and it might be even illegal for them to require permanent residence or citizenship. If there is a way to apply for it other than the online application, apply for it through another route once you have the EAD. If you have a GC interview date when you apply, that would be even better.
 
It is not a government job or entity for that matter. On the job posting itself it says permanent residency required...I didn't know that it is illegal for them to say that!? Every posting I see has that line on it lately. I don't want to do anything illegal so I think I'll try to find a back door to get my application in or simply wait and hope that the posting will still be posted when I have my EAD or Green Card. Thank you!
