AOS and travelling

I was wondering if anyone knows if your allowed to travel outside the country as soon as your approved at your AOS interview? I have an interview on Dec. 15th and am trying to go home for christmas for a few weeks. I also have applied for Advance Parole but am not sure if that is valid after your interview? Ive heard of getting your passport stamped too but this doesnt like it always happens. Basically i want to know if there is anyway for me to leave the country and come back right after my GC interview.

Many THANKS!

You have to get your passport stamped. Without it you might have difficulties boarding your flight (AP might be helpful, even though it is not valid any more - the airline has no idea it is no longer valid) and you might have a long delay at the airport entering US (several hours).

Thanks Raevsky. looks like everything will be ok if i get my passport stamped.

What will cause the delay? Will I already be in the system as a valid permanent resident and that will suffice? Even though I will b waiting on the physical greencard.

Why is AP no longer valid after interview ? My understading is AP should be valid as long as AOS is pending(provided you didn't get stamped in passport at interview).

When your passport is stamped, the officer will write the A# alongsde the stamp. The valid A# all the immigration officer will need at your entry. When he/she type it into the system he/she should immediately see that you are LPR and that she/he cares about. You should be fine travelling with a stamped passport for a period of 1 year from the day your LPR is issued

As long as a decision is pending on your application the AP is valid. However if a decision is made on your AOS application, I believe it invalidate the AP

Cool. So sounds like I can travel on Advanced parole if my case isnt approved on the spot. Otherwise, if its approved I have to make sure I get a stamp and and A# on my passport to travel.

Thanks guys.
