I was granted asylum in Dallas on Dec,1999 applied for my 485 Nov,2000. Back then I was told by former INS to apply 485 in Mesquite,TX. I did so & received my applicant number starts with SRC where else now everyone has LIN. So my question is am I the only one with SRC or there are some others who share the same like SRC.??????????????
What's the difference between this SRC/ LIN ??
Need all your help.

What r u talking about ???????????

LIN could be the city code for Lincoln
(Nebraska) where all the asylum cases go now. SRC is the code for cases sent to texas for processing. cities vary. As I wrote above asylum cases/adjustments are handled at Nebraska only, unless they transfer them to local offices. It would be a good idea if you call the Mes. TX office and confirm if your case is still there or has been transfered to Nebraska.

LIN is the code for NSC.

Since the summer of 1998 NSC has sole jurisdiction for asylee and refugee adjustment cases.

Are you sure you are an asylee? All INS offices other than NSC should have rejected your filing and told you to mail the application to NSC.

In the last two or three month some forum members have reported that NSC forwarded their files to TSC, ostentibly to speed up processing.

Man telling this from my own experience not from any story book. I was granted asylum on Dec,1999 by IJ at Dallas. After approval while I was at the Dallas Immigration office to pick up my I-94, Immigration officer handed me a paper along with all filing instructions, address & fees e.t.c.
It was clearly mentioned in that paper that I have to send my 485 to TSC. This is year 2000 I'm talking about. As instructed by IO I waited a year after asylum approval & Dec 2000 filed my 485 at TSC & received their notice within a week/two saying they received my application & it takes 240/365 days to process my case( well, that's a history now).
Year 2002 I just received another notice from USCIS saying they transfered my case to NSC for them to process my case. BY the way I even received 2001/2002 FP notice also.
Now what you are saying if my filimg to TSC was wrong to begin with USCIS w'd have reject my case right away saying I need to send that to NSC what they clearly didn't rather they sent me a receive notice with a receipt date Dec,2000.
