Any Recent N-600 Denials Out There????

Hi Big, of the 649 views, I guess about 600 are mine, and counting 20 each by Jack and Bob, you get only about 9 people looking into it. Oh wait, did I count you?

Jokes apart, many of the views will be by the regulars. Please do not read much into this. At this stage, divide by 10 or 20 as to the actual reads.

N-600 Instructions CHANGED

Under “Who should NOT file....”,

I am pleased to see the addition of item #5:

“You already filed a Form N-600 and received a decision from USCIS on
that previously filed Form N-600. USCIS will reject (not accept) any
subsequently filed Form N-600. Please review your Form N-600 denial
notice for more information.”

This is long overdue. Something along these lines was suggested previously in
December 2010. SEE http://www.regulations.gov/#!documentDetail;D=USCIS-2006-0023-0026

The above case was Voluntarily Dismissed on Oct 24, 2011. The request rather disingenuously admitted only that the mandamus action asking for the return of a document was moot because it had been returned. It did not own up to the fact that the citizenship claim was baseless or that the request for judicial review was filed in the wrong court AND that it was not ripe for judicial review because the Removal Proceedings were still pending.

Dear members .,

Please advise about N-600 form procedure and related documents.

We got (myself and wife) got Naturalization certificates on 10/17/2011 @ Newark NJ.

SSN Officers asked evidence of kid's (one is @17 and other is @ 12)citizenship to update the their SSN.
Then met immigration officer asked "what do to update the SSN of kids". They told me first apply the
Passport for kids , then passports are the evidence, they are citizens, then SSN officers may abled to update kid's SSN.

I am not cleared what Iam going to do about N-600. Is it compulsory to apply the N-600 to kids.

1) If yes, please tell me what is the procedure and appropriate documents for N-600
2) How much time it will take, and fee etc ...
3) Is it compulsory to get the N-600 before applying the OCI or PIO ?
4) Is there any easy tips please pass to me.

I would greatly appreciate your help.

GOOD LUCK FOR ALL.

Thanks in advance.

usinsuser99,

This thread is about N-600 denials. Your situation does not involve an N-600 denial, so please start a new thread for your question.

new filing procedures for N-600

As of Oct 30, 2011 the N-600 form is to be filed with the Phoenix lockbox facility rather than sent directly to a local DO responsible for the applicant's place of residence, as was the case earlier.

Does anyone know if this means that N-600 can now be filed by applicants residing abroad?

No, it does not change that basic restriction. The authorities involved are statutory.

The only applicants that can be filed from abroad are: U.S. military members and "qualified" dependents. Most will be the military members' N-600 (or N-400), their spouses N-400 (INA 319(e)), or their child's N-600K (INA 322(d)) and a few N-600s, however, the N-600 children would qualify for FS-240s and passports from DOS instead and generally follow that path.
