yes: I just talked to two lawyers that i know personally. Both said they have just started getting Nov/Dec 98 approvals from VSC and lot of other folks are waiting with NDs like mine, 11/98ish.

My personal lawyer told me the same thing. Advised me not to go to congressman till i wait for at least a month more and then he will call INS to check my status.

Interesting thing is all three lawyers are from the NY/NJ area. Do you think NJ/NY cases are taking longer than the rest?

My ND is 9/98. I have not heard from INS at all since my FP in 3/99. My lawyer told me to just wait and refused to make any special effort in inquiring INS about the delay. I contacted my Senator last Monday and explained the whole situation to them. I also told them that VSC claimed to be processing 4/1/00 cases while not processing mine. I received a letter from the Senator Friday; they told me that the reason my case is delayed is because it was "misrouted". Sounds like a lame excuse thought up by INS. Anyway, they told me to expect a notice from INS in a week or so, and if I don\'t hear anything in two weeks, they would contact INS on my behalf again. I was very impressed by how quickly the Senator\'s office acted and the letter sounded really sincere. If you haven\'t heard from INS since your fingerprints were done, and your ND is really old (like mine), I think it\'s reasonable to contact your Senator or congressman. Don\'t count on the lawyers - I don\'t know why they want you to just sit and wait like sitting ducks, maybe they are afraid to piss INS off.

I will update this site on my progress as a result of contacting the Senator.

I live in New Hampshire. I contacted Senator Judd Gregg.

Make sure you visit the representatives\' websites to find out about their stand on immigration before you choose the one to contact. Also I\'ve heard of people who contact more than one reps, which I think is a bad idea. I think all representatives would feel annoyed by that, so would INS. I was told by one of my colleagues (American) that Democrates are more sympathetic to immigrants (or immigrants-to-be), but that may just be his opinion. All the reps in my state are Republicans so I just picked the one with the "best" website (I felt his site reflected the most sincerity in his attitude toward serving his people). I think a "good" politician would be helpful to correct any injustice done to a person, regardless of what the politician may think of immigration or whether that person can vote.

Just FYI: if you do decide to contact your State\'s rep, make sure you attach a copy of your I-485 receipt notice and a printout from any website that shows the current VSC processing times (so you can point out that VSC is processing 4/1/00 cases). I would have liked to use a printout from a government website but I couldn\'t find one, so I used the one from http://www.shusterman.com/ because Carl Shusterman is considered a predominant attorney.

Please keep this site posted of your progress.
