hi guys, just wanted to share my interview experience @ newark this morning.
My interview was scheduled at 8:40 am. I started the morning with a heavy breakfast and headed out at 7:45am, got to the 15th flr around 8:25. Lot's of people.
I was called @ 8:50. My IO was an older male, never smiled He led me to his office, sworn me in and asked for my GC , DL and quickly started with my application. He verified my DOB, place of birth, height and all of the sudden he did an ambush question - "what is the constitution?" he thought I'd be surprise since we were still going through on my application but I didn't hesitated and answered the question.
He then asked me if I was arrested, I said no. I have 2 traffic violations (not speeding) back on '99 and '00. I did not put them in the application and the IO didn't ask me if I had traffic tickets or citation so I didn't volunteer to mention them.
it's really weird, he did NOT go through the form line by line with me.
Another thing is, instead of verbally asking the civic test as most of you guys here have experience, he gave me a piece of paper with 10 civic questions and told me to write the answers for 1-6 only (as if he knew I'd answer 6 of them correctly)
While I was doing that I saw him go through the rest of the pages and put check marks on each line.
civic questions:
1.)We elect a U.S. Senator for how many years?
2.)What does the President’s Cabinet do?
3.)How many justices are on the Supreme Court?
4.)If both the President and the Vice President can no longer serve, who becomes President?
5.)Name one branch or part of the government.
6.)Name one of the two longest rivers in the United States.
he then had me write "columbus day is in october" but he didn't had me read anything.
he then congratulated me and showed me back to the waiting room.
whole thing lasted less than 10 mins. I took the 11:15 oath ceremony and was out of the building by 11:40 am.
I brought along a bunch of docs (tax transcript, proof of payment for my traffic ticket, pay stub, bills etc) but none of them were asked.
I was not ask about them my employment history, tax, tickets or even travel either.
Good luck to all. this forum has been very helpful to me during both my GC days and N400
