Another story from an IO I spoke to today that doesn't make sense

I spoke to an IO today requesting an update on my case. After asking how USCIS determines interview scheduling , the IO mentioned that every state has a main district office, and that some states have additional sub district office. The IO mentioned that the main DO decides on what office in the state will handle the case. That means the order of processing would be service center>main district office> sub district office (if applicable).
This doesn't make sense since it's been observed that some district offices in the same state have different processing times. For example, Raleigh recently opened a new district office and there's been evidence that recent applicants (March 2008) have already received their interview notices while older cases (now serviced by the same district office) are still being held up for available interviews in Charlotte. That would seem to indicate that case flow processing is service center>sub district office.
It really makes me wonder why IOs try to explain something even it it makes no logical sense. Do they take us all for fools?

You're right, it makes no sense at all. Possibly it works that way in a few very small states? But I can't imagine that happending in NY, where NYC DO probably accounts for 95% of the state's applications. I would love it if a "state district office" were to decide that I could get an earlier interview in Albany or Buffalo.

When a CSR transfers you to an IO, that person could be stationed anywhere. I think what happens is that they can only convey to you what they've experienced in DOs or SCs that they're personally familiar with, and some are dumb enough to think that it works that way everywhere.

IMHO, I think that some IOs would rather make up an answer that appear uninformed about the goings-on at their place of employment. It's just typical human nature, a mere attempt to save face.

I think they may be referring to larger cities with auxiliary DOs, like NYC and Garden City, for instance. Garden City is not listed as a DO, but it performs the same function.

Right, I didn't think of that. But that still doesn't explain this IOs generalization, every DO is managed differently. Some of them are as unhelpful as CSRs.

You know, it could possibly be that the IOs themselves are confused about USCIS' processes, so they do the same exact thing we do on this forum...SPECULATE!:D

Maybe they are so confused that they have their own forum. :D

Just imagine:

"I spoke to another N-400 applicant in NYC today. He told me that the DO is now processing cases from January-March 2008! But another applicant recently told me that they're still working on July 2007? Can't these guys get their stories straight? These applicants are almost as useless for information as the dates that we post on the website!"

Our district office is Jacksonville - my husband had his interview last week and his PD was 1/31/08. Somethings don't make sense. I'm glad that they don't make sense as this sped up his process, but still is it fair - no.

Just curious..was the PD on NOA 1/31/08 or did they enter it by mistake as 1/31/07 ?
