Am I allowed to work with my old H1B petition while on new H1B?

Hi,

In 2006, with employer A my H1B petition was approved and was put in pending at Chennai consulate; and finally returned to USCIS.

Last year, with another employer B, I got my H1B approved,got stamped and landed in the USA successfully.

My question is whether I'm allowed to work for employer A without transferring H1B (that got through employer B)?

No, you are authorized to work with employer B.

There are conflicting ideas on this issue and I'd suggest to trransfer to be safe.

I think you can...

My impression was that you are allowed to have more than one H1-B visas simultaneously. One can work for two employers on two visas at the same time. I don't remember now where I got that information but I believe it to be true. But I am no expert. I apologize in advance if this is not right.
